Younger For Longer: Heidrun’s Insights
Hereโs a summary of our conversation with Heidrun.
Your results were impressive! Your most recent pace of aging result was 0.86, which means that at this rate in 10 years, your body would have only aged about 8.6 years. Tell me more about your background before starting this longevity regimen with NOVOS. Have you always been health-conscious?
Yes, I would say Iโve always been pretty health-conscious. Even when I was 18 or so, I remember having a strong focus on health. I grew up in Germany, where I lived for my first 30 years before moving to the U.S. about 25 years ago. My interest in health started earlyโback in college, I was one of the first people in Germany to learn Tai Chi, which wasnโt as well known back then as it is now.
When I moved to the U.S. in my thirties, I was working in a corporate environment, which was really stressful with lots of work-related travel. Then I had a child, and balancing work and family was tough. I started practicing yoga to help manage stress and eventually became a yoga instructor. I did that on evenings and weekends while continuing my corporate job.
At some point, though, I began to question whether my corporate work was truly fulfilling me. That led me to explore acupuncture and Chinese medicine. I became an acupuncturist, which was a significant shift from my previous career. My interest in understanding the bodyโs anatomy and physiology, along with the holistic philosophy of Chinese medicine, drew me to this new path.
As for my diet, Iโve always eaten healthily, although I do have a sweet tooth, which intensified after I had my child. While I generally eat well, I donโt completely eliminate my sugar cravings, but I try to make healthier choices. Iโve also been keen on trying new supplements to complement my diet, and thatโs how I came across NOVOS.
Itโs clear youโve had a lifelong commitment to health. Since starting with NOVOS, what other lifestyle changes have you made? Has anything shifted in your routine beyond taking the supplements?
The changes Iโve made are mostly small, but they add up. Iโve always been physically active, but now I make it a point to ensure I get daily cardio, which has become even more important as Iโve gotten older. Iโm 58 now, and I think for women, especially at my age, itโs crucial to keep moving. I try to get on the treadmill or go outside when walking my dog to get my steps in. I also have a Peloton bike in the basement, so I alternate between that and the treadmill. Even if itโs just 10 minutes, I make sure to do some form of cardio daily. Often, just getting started is the hardest part, but once Iโm going, I end up enjoying it and usually continue longer than I planned.

I came across NOVOS and immediately liked the idea, so I started with the NOVOS Core and Boost.

I know youโre a yoga instructor and acupuncturist, so you must already have a calming mindfulness practice. Do you find any other ways to manage stress?
Yoga definitely helps, and I also meditate, though not every dayโprobably every other day. During a particularly stressful period this past winter, I made it a point to meditate daily, even if just for five minutes. It made a huge difference, and I should really get back into that routine more consistently. I also find that a hot shower in the evening helps me unwind, even if itโs just for a few minutes. I have a sauna blanket too, which I use sometimesโitโs incredibly relaxing.
Lastly, any personal future health goals or aspirations youโd like to achieve?
My main goal is to maintain my current level of health. I feel like Iโm doing well and I want to keep it that way. As we age, little issues can start to pop up, so Iโm focused on doing what I can to keep everything in check. Iโve had a knee problem for a while, so Iโve stopped running, but I still participate in charity races like 5Ks and 10Ksโjust walking instead of running. Itโs important to me to stay active and keep contributing to causes I care about.
